Agreement to terms

By accessing or using RoastMyResume ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you disagree with any part, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors and users.

What the service provides

RoastMyResume provides AI-generated feedback on resume text submitted by users. The critique is generated by Anthropic's Claude AI model and is intended as general, informational feedback only.

The Service does not guarantee employment outcomes. Resume feedback is subjective and dependent on industry, role, region, and many factors outside our control. We make no warranty that following our suggestions will result in interviews, job offers, or career advancement.

Payments and refunds

• The full critique is a paid service, charged as a one-time payment via Stripe. The current standard price is $9 and is displayed on the website at the time of purchase. We may change pricing for future purchases at our discretion.
• Payment is processed before the full critique is generated and delivered.
• Refund policy: Due to the instant digital nature of the service, refunds are not available once your roast has been generated and delivered. If there is a technical failure and you are charged but do not receive your roast, contact us within 7 days at support@roasttheresume.com and we will either regenerate it or issue a full refund.
• Chargebacks filed after receiving your roast may result in your IP being blocked from the service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to bypass the rate limiting on the free tier through VPNs, proxies, or automated tools
• Submit another person's resume without their knowledge and consent
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the underlying AI prompts
• Resell or redistribute critique output as your own professional service without permission
• Submit content designed to manipulate or "jailbreak" the AI

Your content

You retain ownership of any resume text you submit. By submitting it, you grant us a limited, temporary licence to transmit it to Anthropic's API for the sole purpose of generating your critique. We do not store, analyse, or use your resume for any other purpose.

You represent that you have the right to submit the resume text — i.e. it is your own resume or you have explicit permission from the person whose resume it is.

AI-generated content disclaimer

The critique you receive is generated by an AI model. It may contain errors, omissions, or suggestions that are inappropriate for your specific situation, industry, or region. You should use your own judgement when applying any feedback. We recommend having your resume reviewed by a human professional, especially for senior or specialised roles.

AI outputs can vary. Two identical resumes submitted at different times may receive different feedback.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, RoastMyResume shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to lost employment opportunities, loss of income, or reliance on AI-generated feedback.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you actually paid for the Service.

Intellectual property

The RoastMyResume name, logo, website design, and underlying code are our intellectual property. The AI-generated critique delivered to you is yours to use for your personal career purposes.

Termination

We reserve the right to refuse service, block access, or disable accounts at our discretion, particularly in cases of abuse of the free tier or violation of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the business is registered. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
